Car rental is the practical choice for most visitors and is widely available near Jeju International Airport (CJU). Driving lets you reach Hallasan trailheads, Manjanggul lava tube, and the quieter eastern and western coasts on your own schedule. An international driving permit is required for foreign license holders. Rates vary by season, so check current prices through the booking widget, peak summer and holiday periods see significantly higher demand. The coastal Ilju Road circling the island is well-signed and straightforward to navigate. From the airport, taxis are the fastest and most direct option into Jeju City, a comfort-tier choice for most budgets given the short distance. Local buses also depart from outside the arrivals hall and serve central Jeju City at economy pricing. Avoid accepting unsolicited transport offers outside the official taxi queue. If your accommodation is in Seogwipo on the south coast, factor in the longer transfer distance and confirm whether your rental pickup is at the airport or in town.
